Nel 1950, il signor Wellington acquistò 18.000 acri (73 km2) comprensivi delle piantagioni di fragole e di alcune aree paludose, al fine di fondare un centro residenziale. Lo sviluppo di Wellington Village è iniziato solo nel 1972, e fino al 1990, è stato rappresentato solo da un grande “dormitorio” alcuni centri commerciali o ristoranti fino a quando non è stata riconosciuta come Comune nel dicembre 1995, evento che ne ha segnato la crescita e lo sviluppo.
As Palm Beach Gardens, Wellington has very recent origins: its land area was known as the world's largest strawberry patch. In 1950s, Mr. Wellington bought 18,000 acres (73 km2) consisting of strawberry plantations and some marshy areas, which would eventually become the Village of Wellington. The Wellington Village development began only in 1972, and up until 1990, it functioned as a sprawling bedroom community with few shopping centers or restaurants until it was incorporated in December 1995, an event that marked the growth and development.
