RADICI: XLII Edizione del Bacco Artigiano

Sono iniziati ieri, giovedì 28 Settembre, i festeggiamenti in occasione della  XLII Edizione del Bacco Artigiano che si concluderà a domenica 1 Ottobre a Rufina, con i tradizionali "fuochi di Bacco".

Un'edizione ricca di eventi e spettacoli, con un attenzione particolare all'aspetto culturale e storico di questa ricorrenza. Un'occasione per mantenere viva la tradizione e la cultura locale, ma anche un modo per promuovere le eccellenze eno-gastronomiche del nostro territorio.

A rich edition with events and shows, with particular attention to the cultural and historical aspect of this recurrence. An opportunity to keep local tradition and culture alive, but also a way to promote the eno-gastronomic excellence of our territory.

Come ogni anno i festeggiamenti si svolgeranno a Rufina durante il corso dell'intera manifestazione e il giorno di sabato 30 settembre si terrà la tradizionale sfilata del Carro Matto a Firenze.

As every year the festivities will take place in Rufina during the whole event and on the Saturday, September 30, the traditional carriage of the Carro Matto in Florence will be held.

RADICI. La Toscana di Pietro Leopoldo

Proseguiamo il nostro racconto delle origini del nostro Chianti Rufina, proponendo le celebrazioni svoltesi in occasione della Festa della Toscana.

We continue our story of the origins of our Chianti Rufina, talking about the celebrations held on the occasion of the Feast of Tuscany.

Questa ricorrenza è stata istituita nel 2000 dal Consiglio Regionale della Toscana per ricordare un importante progresso della nostra civiltà: l'abolizione della pena di morte nel Granducato di Toscana ad opera di Pietro Leopoldo.

This celebration was established in 2000 by the Regional Council of Tuscany to remember an important advancement of our civilization: the abolition of the death penalty in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany by Pietro Leopoldo.

Nono figlio del primo Granduca di Toscana Francesco I di Lorena, Pietro Leopoldo fu un chiaro esempio di "sovrano illuminato" e le sue riforme si contraddistinsero per una propensione agli scopi pratici più che a quelli teorici.

Ninth son of the first Gran Duke of Tuscany Francesco I di Lorena, Leopold was a clear example of "enlightened ruler" and his reforms were characterised by a propensity to the practical purposes rather than theoretical ones.

Il Granduca, fin dal suo insediamento, avviò un programma di riforma ad ampio raggio che riuscì a portare un piccolo stato come il Granducato di Toscana a rivendicare la reputazione di paese all'avanguardia a livello europeo.

The Grand Duke, since its establishment, embarked on a wide-ranging reform program that was able to bring a small state like the Grand Duchy of Tuscany to vindicate the reputation of one of the most pioneering country in Europe.

Era il 1764 quando Cesare Beccaria pubblicò a Livorno il saggio dal titolo “Dei delitti e delle pene” che divenne in breve il testo più importante e diffuso dell'Illuminismo italiano e che ispirò il percorso politico del Granduca. E così, dopo oltre vent'anni di studio insieme ai suoi Consiglieri, il 30 novembre del 1786 Leopoldo riformò il Codice Penale, abolendo la pena di morte e la pratica della tortura.

It was the 1764 when Cesare Beccaria published in Livorno on essay titled "On Crimes and Punishments" which soon became the most important text and widespread Italian Enlightenment and inspired the political path of the Grand Duke. And so, after more than twenty years of study together with his councilors, on November 30, 1786 Leopoldo reformed the Penal Code, with the abolishing the death penalty and the use of torture.

Il Granducato di Toscana fu così il primo stato al mondo ad eliminare, in un colpo solo, residuati dell'epoca medioevale, come il delitto di lesa maestà, la tortura e la pena di morte. Nella città di Firenze, in seguito all'emanazione del Codice leopoldino, patiboli e strumenti di tortura vennero bruciati in un falò appiccato di fronte a palazzo del Bargello.

The Grand Duchy of Tuscany was thus the first country in the world to eliminate, in one fell swoop, the remnants of the medieval era, such as treason, torture and the death penalty. In the city of Florence, following the enactment of the Code leopoldino, gallows and torture instruments they were burnt in a bonfire hanged in front of the palace of the Bargello.

Per l'occasione si è tenuto, presso la Sala Gonfalone del Palazzo del Pegaso in via Cavour a Firenze, il Concerto Chiave di Vino, Una storia di  Vino per raccontare la Musica, con la voce narrante del professor Luigi Dei, Magnifico Rettore dell’Università di Firenze e le fisarmoniche del Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini, seguito da una degustazione guidata dei vini dei quattro Consorzi.

Non dobbiamo dimenticare altri atti importanti promulgati sotto il suo governo, come la liberalizzazione del commercio dei grani attraverso l'abolizione dei vincoli annonari che bloccavano le colture cerealicole, ma soprattutto, dopo tanti secoli, la liquidazione delle corporazioni di origine medievale.

We must not forget other important acts promulgated under his government, such as the liberalization of the grain trade through the abolition of food rationing constraints blocking the cereal crops, but above all, after so many centuries, the liquidation of the medieval guilds.

Il maggior impatto sulla vita dei produttori di vino fu sicuramente la decisione della realizzazione di un catasto aggiornato dei terreni e degli edifici di tutti il territorio del Granducato, attraverso la promulgazione del Catasto Leopoldino, nel 1765: una precisa catalogazione e misurazione dei territori avrebbe consentito di utilizzare la proprietà fondiaria come termine di misura per l'imposizione fiscale.

The greatest impact on the lives of winemakers was certainly the decision of the realization of an updated register of land and buildings of all the territory of the Grand Duchy, through the enactment of the Catasto Leopoldino, in 1765: a precise classification and measurement of the territories would have allowed to use the land ownership as a standard of measure for taxation.

Con questa azione si ottenne un riordino del sistema tributario, ma anche un controllo su quanti possedessero dei beni e per quale valore: secondo la riforma, infatti, solo i possessori di beni potevano far parte delle magistrature locali, e con cariche il cui prestigio e potere erano strettamente legato al patrimonio accertato. Accanto ai maggiori diritti, i proprietari terrieri dovettero assumere anche maggiori doveri nella gestione politica e finanziaria delle comunità e nella copertura degli oneri fiscali, attraverso l'eliminazione di esenzione o privilegi passati.

Il lavoro cartografico messo in atto per rendere queste misure attuabili sono oggi una mirabile eredità che ci permette di ricostruire l'uso del suolo del nostro territorio con una profondità storica di almeno 250 anni.

World Tour 2016. Europa e Cina si incontrano con ProWine

Il 9 novembre si è conclusa con successo a Shanghai la 4° edizione di ProWine Cina, la fiera internazionale di vini e distillati.

Come l’evento europeo della ProWine di Düsseldorf, la ProWine cinese sembra essere un punto di riferimento ideale sia per gli importatori cinesi, sia per distributori e fornitori asiatici. Quest'anno la fiera ha attirato 12.431 visitatori professionali, con un incremento del 20% rispetto all’anno scorso, con visitatori provenienti da fuori Shanghai che rappresentano il 36%. 

As the European event of ProWine Düsseldorf, the Chinese ProWine is an ideal reference point for both the Chinese importers, both for distributors and Asian suppliers. This year the fair attracted 12,431 trade visitors, an increase of 20% from last year, with visitors from outside Shanghai which account for 36%.

La ragione di questo risultato sta nell'avere sfruttato una buona sinergia con FHC China 2016 - The 20th Exhibition of Food, Drink, Hospitality, Foodservice & Retail Industries - svoltasi in contemporanea nello stesso complesso fieristico: lo Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC).

Abbiamo potuto partecipare a questa edizione internazionale attraverso il canale organizzativo del Consorzio Chianti, dove ritroviamo abitualmente un gruppo affiatato di "colleghi" viaggiatori.

We have had the occasion to participate in this international edition through the organizational channel of the Chianti Consortium, where we find usually our close-knit group of  "associates" travelers.

Dalla nostra ultima esperienza cinese, Wine&Spirit Fair del 2015, si rafforza un'impressione complessiva
che il vino non sia, tutto sommato, un prodotto ancora troppo esotico ai gusti dei ristoratori e operatori eno-gastronomici cinesi.

Since our last Chinese experience, Wine & Spirit Fair of 2015, is strengthened our overall impression that wine is not, after all, a product still too exotic for the Chinese food restaurant owners and operators.

Partecipando a questo evento e stilando dei sintetici profili sui visitatori della fiera, abbiamo osservato come il vino possa essere uno dei motori dell'evoluzione dell'intrattenimento culinario cinese che trasformerà l'intera offerta gourmet dei prossimi anni. In Cina sta esplodendo, soprattutto tra i giovani, una vera e propria moda del "mangiare" europeo. Non  è un caso che i padiglioni degli espositori internazionali più quotati fossero proprio quelli di Francia, Italia e Spagna.

By participating in this event and by drawing up a synthetic profiles on the fair visitors, we observed that the wine can be one of the engines of the evolving of the entertainment Chinese culinary that will transform the entire gourmet offer in the coming years. In China is exploding, especially among young people, a true fashion of "eating European". It is no coincidence that the pavilions of the most quoted international exhibitors were precisely those of France, Italy and Spain.

Alla costruzione di un nuovo "trend" della vita mondana cinese si affacciano anche discutibili prodotti innovativi, caricati di colore e coloranti artificiali.

Forti di questo slancio culturale, le bottiglie delle Cantine Bellini inziano a farsi notare anche sugli scaffali di importanti compagnie di importazione, affiancati a grandi nomi del panorama mondiale, come l'amarone.

Armed with this cultural momentum, the bottles of the Cantine Bellini begin to be noticed even on the shelves of major import companies, along with important names on the world stage such as Amarone.

MAGNALONGA 2015 - Cammina verso qualcosa di alto

La Magnalonga è un appuntamento tradizionale per festeggiare la festa del lavoro ideale per rilassare la mente allenando il cuore e lo stomaco. Molti fiorentini sono ormai affezionati a questa passeggiata che da 24 anni permette anche ai cittadini di scoprire i sentieri del bosco e del gusto del Mugello e della Val di Sieve.

Per chi non la conosce ancora, potete dare leggere i post e un'occhiata alle foto scattate durante le precedenti edizioni: Magnalonga - 1° Maggio 2013 - Appunti di viaggio e Le tappe della Magnalonga 2012.

Quest'anno la Magnalonga torna a Vicchio, dove è nata: presso il Circolo ARCI "Il Tiglio", nella piazza principale del paese, si inizia il cammino verso il sentiero dei "Ragazzi di Barbiana", lo stesso che percorrevano i ragazzi del paese negli anni '60 per andare alla scuola di Don Lorenzo Milani.
Oltre alle soste ristoro per assaggiare le specialità locali, non mancherà l'occasione per ricordare questo personaggio storico che, sperimentando un metodo di istruzione innovativo, cercò di combattere l'analfabetismo e elevare le coscienze dei ragazzi. Il percorso condurrà proprio verso il piccolo centro di Barbiana dove, dalle ore 13 alle 14.30, sarà possibile visitare la scuola dove Don Milani insegnò.


The Magnalonga is a tradition to celebrate the feast of the work, ideal to relax with the exercise of the heart and stomach. Many Florentines have become fond of this walk that for 24 years also allows citizens to explore the trails of the forest and the taste of Mugello and Val di Sieve.

This year the Magnalonga back in Vicchio, where she was born: at the Circolo ARCI "Il Tiglio", in the main square of the country, you begin the journey towards the path of the "Boys of Barbiana", the same guys who leave the country in the Sixty to go to the school of Don Lorenzo Milani.
In addition to the refreshment stops to sample local specialties, do not miss this opportunity to commemorate this historical figure who, experiencing an innovative method of education, tried to combat illiteracy and raise the consciousness of the boys. The trail leads right to the small town of Barbiana where, from 13.00 to 14.30 o'clock, you can visit the school where Don Milani taught.

Per chi vuole innalzare il livello di difficoltà della camminata si potrà scegliere di continuare col percorso lungo (22 Km) e affrontare la salita fino alla vetta del monte Giovi, oppure si potrà concludere il percorso breve (12 Km ) e tornare verso Vicchio. Il tempo massimo di percorrenza previsto è di 7 ore.

Sul percorso saranno dislocati alcuni punti di ristoro con assaggi di prodotti del Mugello e della Val di Sieve, accompagnati dai vini del Chianti Rufina e di Pomino. Al termine della passeggiata sarà offerto un pranzo/merenda, disponibile fino alle 17 allietato (dalle 16 alle 20) da spettacoli musicali e una dimostrazione della  antica tecnica di battitura del grano.

XXXIX Bacco Artigiano: le origini della manifestazione

Se da un lato il tradizionale Corteo Fiorentino ed il Carro Matto non hanno deluso chi già conosceva la manifestazione e hanno sorpreso invece i turisti che si trovavano per caso in Piazza della Signoria o in Via dei Calzaioli in quel momento,

La ricchezza dei festeggiamenti che hanno caratterizzato questa edizione del Bacco Artigiano, probabilmente anche in vista dell’anniversario dei suoi primi 40 anni ci hanno piacevolmente colpito e ci hanno invogliato a saperne di più sulle origini di questa festa.

La prima Festa dell’Uva fu istituita in tutta Italia nel 1930 per volontà del regime col nome di “Festa Nazionale dell’Uva” e Rufina si distinse fin dai primi anni per impegno organizzativo e originalità di realizzazioni. Abbiamo ritrovato anche un trafiletto de La Nazione del 1930 dove viene descritta la prima manifestazione:

The first Grape Festival was founded in Italy in 1930 by fascist regime as "National Day of Grapes" and Rufina stood out for the organizational commitment and originality of achievements. We also found a blurb of the daily La Nazione of 1930 which describes the first event:

Fin dalla prima edizione vengono realizzati carri allegorici e carri coi fiaschi caricati a cesta, secondo la tradizione del luogo, carri che diventeranno poi il noto Carro Matto, simbolo del Bacco Artigiano. Il Carro Matto ricorda quando, durante la Repubblica Fiorentina, il 29 settembre di ogni anno, in occasione del vino nuovo, veniva costruita una piramide enorme di fiaschi che, dopo aver ricevuto la benedizione nella Chiesa di via Calzaioli, veniva portata al Palazzo della Signoria, dove il Gonfaloniere brindava insieme ai Priori alla salute del popolo fiorentino.

L’origine di questo particolare metodo di trasporto risale addirittura al XIV secolo, quando il rosso toscano veniva portato dal Chianti, in particolare da Poggibonsi e da Rufina, a Firenze all’interno dei fiaschi disposti a piramide (a cesta) su lunghi barrocci trainati da cavalli.
Il fiasco, tipico contenitore toscano, era un tempo l’unico utilizzato per il vino. Soffiati a bocca dal fiascaio, ne venivano realizzati in una quantità tale da avere addirittura una piazza a loro dedicata: il Canto dei Fiascai (tra via della Condotta e via Calzaioli), dove si trovavano le principali botteghe artigiane dove venivano realizzati sia i contenitori di vetro (fiaschi nudi) che il rivestimento in erbe palustri come sala o rascello. La paglia aveva la funzione di proteggere il vetro dagli urti e nello stesso tempo serviva come isolante termico contro le alterazioni della bevanda.

The origin of this particular method of transportation dates back to the fourteenth century, when the red tuscan wine was brought from the Chianti, in particular from Poggibonsi and Rufina, to Florence inside the flasks arranged in the shape of a pyramid ("a cesta") over a long wagon driven by horses. 
The flask, the typical Tuscan container, once was the only container used for wine. Blown from the flaskman, they were made in such a quantity as to have even a square dedicated to them: the Canto dei Fiascai, the Corner of Flaskmen, (between Via della Condotta and via Calzaioli), where there were the main workshops where were made ​​both containers glass (flasks nudes) that the coating with marsh grasses such as sala or rascello. The straw had the function to protect the glass from bumps and, at the same time, served as a thermal insulator against deterioration of the beverage.

Volge a compimento la nostra sorvolata sulla produzione e il consumo di vino nel nuovo mondo. Questa breve pausa ci permette di aggiornare il nostro diario di viaggio e riprendere forze in vista dell'ultima tappa in Cina.

Parliamo di ExpoVinis Brazil 2014. La nostra esperienza a questa fiera è stata senz'altro emozionante e non è facile da raccontare: per cercare di dare un'idea d'insieme è necessario considerare alcuni elementi essenziali.

We talk about ExpoVinis Brazil 2014. Our experience in this fair was certainly exciting and it is not easy to tell: to try to give you an idea is necessary to consider some essential elements.

Our overflown on the production and consumption of wine in the New World is came to end. This pause allows us to update our travel diary and take the forces in view of the final stage in China.

Cominciamo osservando la città di San Paolo, dove si è svolto l'evento, ricordando che è la città più "italiana" di tutto il Brasile. Sviluppatasi storicamente grazie a flussi migratori provenienti da ogni parte d'Europa, deve alla comunità italiana, la più numerosa, un contributo particolare per lo sviluppo della cultura.  Tutt'oggi la comunità italiana è fiorente: San Paolo, vista anche la sua enorme estensione, conta più persone di origine italiana ...di qualsiasi città italiana (comprese Roma e Milano)!!!

Let's start by looking at the city of São Paulo where the event has been performed and remember that this is the most "Italian" city of Brazil. Developed historically thanks to migration from all parts of Europe, due to the Italian community, the most numerous, a special contribution to the development of his culture.
Also today the Italian community is prosperous: São Paulo, also considering its enormous size, has more people of Italian origin ... of any Italian cities (including Rome and Milan)!!!

ExpoVinis, pur essendo una fiera più piccola (e meno specializzata) del Vinitaly, ha attratto comunque una sostenuta presenza di pubblico. Al nostro stand sono accorsi visitatori eterogenei: dai singoli appassionati, ai ristoratori e operatori commerciali; dagli importatori, ai giornalisti del settore.

In questo scenario, la presenza italiana si è distinta fortemente per la sua varietà di piccole realtà e microzone con identità vinicole profondamente diverse...ma tutte da scoprire! La zona del Chianti, la regione Piemonte e la regione Emilia Romagna si ergevano come punti di congiunzione di altri piccoli stand italiani.

Commenti positivi sono stati espressi anche da Emilio Pelizzon, rappresentante dell'Agenzia dell’Internazionalizzazione delle imprese italiane in questa video-intervista, dove sottolinea il potenziale del mercato brasiliano per l'importazione di vini italiani.

ExpoVinis, although a fair smaller (and less specialized) of Vinitaly, however, has attracted a strong public presence. Our stand was visited by a diverse public: winelovers, restaurateurs and traders, importers and specialized journalists.

In this scenery, the Italian presence stood out strongly for its variety of small businesses and micro-zones with very different identities wine ... but all to discover! The Chianti area, the Piedmont and the Emilia Romagna stood as the junctions of other small Italian stand.

Positive comments were also expressed by Emilio Pelizzon, representative of the Agency of Internationalization of Italian business, in this interview, where emphasizes the potential of the Brazilian market for the importation of Italian wines.

Ricordiamo che i vini del Chianti e delle rispettive sottozone hanno fatto quest'anno la loro prima comparsa a questa fiera che è la più importante e rappresentativa per il mercato sud-americano.

Merita una citazione anche la degustazione guidata organizzata appositamente dal Consorzio Chianti in cui un noto giornalista brasiliano ha descritto i concetti principali della nostra tradizione enologica. Di fronte a numerosi commenti dei consumatori, l'impressione che emerge è quella che il pubblico brasiliano tradizionalmente prediliga vini più strutturati, privi di particolare freschezza.

Deserve a mention also the tasting organized by the Consorzio Chianti where a renowned Brazilian journalist has described the main concepts of our winemaking tradition. In front of the numerous consumer comments, the impression that emerges is that the Brazilian public traditionally prefers more structured wines, with no particular freshness.

La nostra azione promozionale si è concentrata nel sottolineare che la leggera sensazione di astringenza dovuta alla presenza del tannino, facilmente riconoscibile nel nostro Chianti Rufina Riserva, sia la chiave per permettere di abbinare lo stesso vino a numerosi piatti della cucina tradizionale brasiliana, come il famoso "Rodizio Brasileño".

Our promotional activity was concentrated in pointing out that the slight sensation of astringency due to the presence of tannins, easily recognizable in our Chianti Rufina Riserva, is the key to allow the wine to match the same number of traditional Brazilian dishes such as the famous "Rodizio Brasileño."

I maggiori apprezzamenti li abbiamo però avuti sul nostro Comedìa IGT, un vino che, grazie al passaggio in barrique e ad una piccola percentuale di un vitigno merlot, risulta essere di più facile interpretazione ad un pubblico in cerca, come già sottolineato, di un vino più "sweety" (morbido).

A seguito delle nostre indicazioni, numerosi visitatori ci hanno confermato che avrebbero acquistato una bottiglia di Chianti per abbinarla ad un buon piatto di pasta o a della carne alla griglia, dimostrando di aver compreso le qualità e le potenzialità del nostro vino.

We have had the greatest praise on our Comedìa IGT, a wine which, thanks to the passage in barriques and to a small percentage of Merlot, turns out to be easier for an audience that is looking for a wine more "sweety", as already pointed out.

As a result of our recommendations, many visitors have told us that they would buy a bottle of Chianti to combine it with a good plate of pasta or grilled meat, showing that they have understand the quality and potential of our wine.

Purtroppo non è facile prevedere un qualche ritorno tangibile dal nostro lavoro agli stand (in questa, come in qualsiasi altra fiera). Tuttavia, lasciamo l'america latina soddisfatti e sicuri di esserci fatti notare per volare verso gli Stati uniti, dove ci attendono altri importanti impegni: l'"Italian day" alla Total Wine & More del Connecticut e l'evento "Workshop Chianti" a New York.

Unfortunately it is not easy to predict some tangible return from our work to the stand (in this, as in any other fair). However, we leave the Latin America satisfied and sure to have pointed out to fly to the United States, where other important commitments expect us : the "Italian Day" at Total Wine & More of Connecticut and the "Chianti Workshop" in New York.

Un nuovo logo per il Consorzio Chianti Rùfina

 

Facciamo eco al bando di concorso promosso dal Consorzio Chianti Rùfina per il rinnovo del marchio storico.

Alla vigilia del 35° anno di attività, si rinnova l'impegno del presidio culturale che rappresenta la produzione del nostro vino, ricercando una nuova icona che possa essere apprezzata e riconosciuta anche dalle nuove generazioni. Per questo motivo è proprio dalle idee fresche di giovani studenti di architettura della facoltà di Firenze che sarà proposto il nuovo logo del consorzio.


We make echo to the call for the competition organized by Consorzio Chianti Rufina for the renovation of his historic brand.

On the eve of the 35th year of his activity, has renewed the commitment of the cultural defence that represents the production of our wine, looking for a new icon that can be recognized and appreciated by new generations. For this reason, the Consorzio Chianti Rufina is at the research to fresh ideas of young students of the faculty of architecture of Florence, which will offer the new logo of the consortium.

Il primo grande passo sulla strada del rinnovamento è stato fatto qualche anno fa per il Chianti e ormai,  anche per le sottozone, è necessario adeguarsi a una visibilità ed ad un pubblico molto più vasto di quello di 35 anni fa.
L'evoluzione dei mezzi informatici e la crescita della qualità dei prodotti raggiunta ha permesso di rendere internazionale anche la nostra piccola realtà di artigiani del vino. Da qui l'esigenza di un nuovo marchio che mostri universalmente "di che uva" sono fatti i nostri vini!

Partecipando al bando si ha la possibilità di lasciare un segno tangibile nella grande storia della tradizione vinicola toscana e essere l'ambasciatore "grafico" del marchio Chianti Rùfina del futuro.

Allora, forza, RIMARCHIAMOLO!


The first major step towards the renewal was done a few years ago for Chianti and now, even for the sub-areas, it is necessary to adapt to a visibility and a much wider audience than that of 35 years ago.
The evolution of computers and the growth of the quality of products has also allowed us to make international our small group of artisans of wine. Because of this, the need for a new brand that shows universally "of which grapes" our wines are made!
